IGC Nav Expands Robotics Engineering to Advance Beacon-Free Indoor Navigation
IGC Nav has announced specialist robotics engineering work aimed at refining its indoor positioning approach, including sensor fusion, reusable reference checkpoints and navigation across complex multi-level spaces.

Why specialist robotics engineering matters
Indoor navigation is challenging because satellite positioning can become unreliable under roofs, while inertial motion estimates accumulate drift. IGC Nav’s engineering work focuses on combining complementary signals to support more reliable location estimates and user guidance.
Areas of work include sensor fusion, smartphone motion measurements, pedestrian dead reckoning, visual location cues and reusable digital checkpoints. These are areas under development and validation; accuracy will depend on device capabilities and the environment.
Beacon-free indoor positioning and reusable checkpoints
Traditional indoor positioning solutions can involve installing and maintaining dedicated infrastructure. IGC Nav is pursuing a beacon-free indoor navigation approach in which digital reference checkpoints and supported device sensors can help applications recognize location and correct drift.

Navigation APIs for developers
IGC Nav is building an API-first platform for developers across technology stacks. Potential uses include retail wayfinding, tourism, warehouses, healthcare and emergency-response workflows, with implementation details and deployment readiness varying by use case.
